The 23rd annual Sprouts New Play Festival for Kids presents another crop of new short plays for kids and families!

3 plays penned by playwrights from diverse cultural backgrounds will share their newest works in fully produced staged readings.

About the Plays:

Little Crow and Magpie by Shyanne Duquette
Little Crow is struggling to leave the nest. With the support of the moon and a nearby magpie, she learns to venture out. Themes include the power of community, navigating big transitions in life, and friendship.

The Club Conundrum by Jasmine Hopfe
It’s Club Day at school when the students pick which club they belong to based on where they believe their strengths lie. But what to do when more than one club feels like the right place? Explores themes of mixed-race identity and the ways we might fit in to more than one box.

Wanda, Wendy and the What-If Walrus by Hayley Moorhouse
A young penguin needs to know all the steps for the Annual Winter Waddle but is worried she won’t learn them in time. Explores themes of overcoming anxiety and moving through your fears.
